Our Lady of the LakesSchool Philosophy
At Our Lady of the LakesCatholicSchool we believe every student is unique and valuable as a child of God. We continually strive to strengthen the child intellectually, culturally, physically and most importantly spiritually. Our goal is for the students to develop a deep personal relationship with God and to integrate Gospel values in their daily lives.
We believe by following our Mission Statement, we can help the children to be the best they can be.
Our Lady of the LakesSchoolMission Statement
"Our Lady of the LakesCatholicGrade School will be a center for educational excellence and form students as faith filled, service oriented Christian leaders."
Goals for Mission Statement
- Provide a secure, caring Catholic environment that will enable all students to be positive role models and effective decision-makers.
- Provide spiritual development, which will nurture a commitment to a lifelong faith journey as a Catholic Christian.
- Provide excellence in all academic programs including integrating technology, foreign language, fine arts, and physical education.
- Provide the opportunity to learn through a variety of creative techniques such as group study, individual study, lecture, active participation, reflection, prayer and worship.
- Provide a neat, clean and well-maintained facility in order to furnish a safe and positive learning environment.
- Provide open lines of communication between family, school and community, and encourage participation to meet the needs of the whole child.
Children celebrate an all-school liturgy once a week. The teachers with their classes take turns planning and participating in all aspects of the Mass, including serving as greeters, lectors, readers of the Word of God and petitions, and presenting the gifts.
Crucial to the religious experience and Catholic identity of Our Lady of the LakesSchool, students participate in daily prayer. Each day a "Saint of the day" is highlighted. They also plan and participate in special celebrations for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Stations of the Cross/Living Rosary, Easter, May Crowning and October rosaries.
We at Our Lady of the LakesSchool are a family, and as such, are all members of the Home and School Association. Meetings are held throughout the year with the purposes of increasing communication and cooperation between parents and educators, providing well-planned programs of information and interest to parents, helping to create a greater appreciation of Catholic education, as well as to coordinate fund-raising activities to benefit the school. The Home and School Association works to provide many extras to the school, such as continued upgrading of our technology area, updated playground equipment, money towards fieldtrips, and teacher and classroom special needs.
We understand that each child is a very precious and unique individual, so we offer a 3- and 4-year-old preschool that accepts each child where they are in their own developmental stage. Our main goal is to expose your child to skills, which will establish a foundation for future intellectual, emotional, social, physical and spiritual growth. We also offer fulltime or part time child care at our ChildCareCenter year round from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Our Lady of the LakesSchool welcomes families and children of all faiths who believe in a values-based education and spiritual growth and development.
