Fifth & Sixth Grade

Dear Parent(s),

Welcome to our 5th/6th grade classroom. I hope you had a great summer and are as excited as I am to start the new school year! My name is Ms. Brown, and I will be your child’s teacher this year. Here’s a little bit about me. I am originally from Farmington and am now living here in Random Lake. I spent my college years at UW-Oshkosh where I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Social Studies. I am licensed to teach grades 1-8. I have substitute taught in many different districts including Random Lake. I have also taught summer school at Ozaukee Elementary School and for Camp Invention in Grafton and Random Lake. This will be my 3rd year here at OLL. In my spare time, I enjoy scrapbooking, camping, hiking, and spending time with my fiancé, Jake, and the rest of my family. I am currently planning for my October 9th wedding, which will change my name to Mrs. Keller.

Our classroom theme this year will be “God Bless America” while our school theme will be “125 Years of Building Strong Character for Life.” We will be learning a lot about the nation we live in including all the states and capitals and the meanings behind the lyrics of The Star Spangled Banner.   We will also be celebrating 125 years of our school educating students.

This year we will be doing many subjects this together as one whole class. This will include science, social studies, religion, and English. I will be keeping reading and math separated, as I believe it will be most beneficial for the students. I will be using tables once again this year so that groups can be very flexible and everyone can learn to work together with everyone else. This allows for the use of cubbies, which prepare the students for the middle school experience after OLL. I am a strong believer in collaboration and cooperative learning. There will be many opportunities for you child to work with others to achieve a common goal. As with everything, there will also be individual activities

Working with parents is important to me, so feel free to call or email me if you have any questions or concerns. We can work together to give your child the best education available!

Sincerely,

Ms. Brown (Soon to be Mrs. Keller)
