 Kindergarden and First Grade update

Hello,

Yes, I missed writing last week! It seems the warm weather is getting to me.

Religion- The students finished a chapter in their text about respect. The girls made a nice mural with the wod Respect and ideas written in the border about how to show respect. The mural is hanging by our classroom door. They did a nice job and do try to show respect everyday. The next chapter will be focusing on Praying to God. We will be learning how to pray and when to pray.

Spelling- Words and activities went home next week and test on the words will be this Wednesday.

English- The students wrote a diary entry for their dolls on American Girl Doll day on Friday. They sure like the dolls and were excited to include them in some activities. The students also wrote abbreviations for days of the week, end punctuation and we did walk to the post office to mail our friendly letters.

Reading-Each of the first graders has a book that they are reading and discussing with myself. We are making a story map which includes the characters, the problems in the story, the solutions and the setting. Please have your daughter bring it to school each day. We will be finished with the books sometime next week. We are still working on different skills in the reading workbook.

Science- The girls finished the chapter on energy today and we will be starting to work on a matter chapter.

Social Studies- We will be starting a unit about Our Country. We will be talking about different inventors and symbols of our country.
